Individual Counselling & Therapy

In this therapeutic relationship, we work through what you may currently be struggling with with and how to reduce suffering in your life both short and long term. This could be from a variety of issues ranging from anxiety and panic, depression, anger, relationship issues, communication difficulties, separation and divorce, parenting, pre and post natal (see below), melding families, conflict resolution, past or current trauma, PTSD, grief, motivation, behavioural problems, issues with substance abuse, stress and burnout, work life balance, self esteem, intergenerational patterns, and life transitions.

Pre & Post Partum Counselling

This is an area I became interested in psychologically while going through my own pregnancies, birthing experiences, and becoming a mother. There is so much information out there, but in our sessions I help you focus in on what fits for you, how to connect and tune into your own needs during this massive transition, and how to work through the struggles you may face in this very personal  journey. I offer support in a non judgmental environment with the aim to help and guide you in what you need whether it be education & information, navigating the hormonal & emotional changes, connecting with your partner, or just someone to talk to about this new stage in your life.

Couples Therapy

In couples work, we begin by establishing a safe therapeutic setting for both individuals. I will work through what issue brought you into the room with an emphasis on understanding both sides empathically.  We will work through themes that continue to resurface in fights, past resentments and betrayals, forgiveness, intimacy, cycles of communication in fights and in love, communication styles, understanding your love languages, and familial issues.
All relationships work trough harmony, disharmony and repair and we focus onworking throgh HOW to repair. I work from an RLT (relational Life Therapy) perspective which fouses on the the relationship as primary client in the room.

Pre-Marital Counselling

Before you and your partner walk down the aisle together we walk through some fundamental must have conversations and establish a healthy foundation before you begin this journey together. In total, you and your partner complete 6 sessions each designed around specific topics. The sessions are guided by research and offer exercises and take home points for you both to work on.

Family & Parenting Therapy

As families, we develop roles that each of us begin to fit into. We take on emotional tasks and learn how to treat others and ourselves in the context of these roles. We develop unspoken rules around communication, resolutions around fighting, ideas about gender, sex, education, respect, empathy, values, morals, and so much more. When I work with families, it usually is because the family is experiencing some challenges around getting everyone to work as a team. This may be around bedtime, dinner times, before and after school, homework, chores or perhaps because it seems to be one child is particularly challenging. In our sessions we will work through parenting techniques, each persons role in the family, where an individual may be feeling discouraged, what certain behaviours (such as acting out, rebelling, withdrawing) are telling us about an individual, and tools to put in place to create a more harmonic home where everyone feels like they matter and where everyone contributes willingly!

Parenting Workshops

In a workshop setting, I work with you or your group to develop an interactive presentation. Previously, I have run workshops for elementary schools, parent groups, and teachers, focusing on topics such as challenging behaviours, positive discipline, creating family meetings and schedules and how to ensure they work, developmental stages, parenting approaches, and theory behind raising children to be well established, secure in themselves, and contributing members to society.
